Carolina Lavatelli is a leading international figure in cybersecurity standardization and certification. She co-leads Internet of Trust’s global technical strategy.
As co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Carolina Lavatelli leads the security assessment and regulatory engineering strategy for all Internet of Trust clients. She advises industry players, manufacturers of connected devices, and international consortia on the deployment of high-assurance certification programs.
Carolina holds a PhD on Computer Science from Paris-Cité University (ex-Paris VII). She has internationally recognized expertise in designing evaluation frameworks, e.g. for smartcards, trusted execution environment (TEE) mobile devices and applications, the IoT, payment terminals (POI) and cards, transport ticketing solutions, and content protection. Carolina is the lead author of numerous Protection Profiles (PPs) and reference test methodologies.
A key player in global standardization, Carolina serves as Chair of the TES Labs working group within GlobalPlatform. She actively participates in and consistently contributes to the work of leading international standardization groups such as ISCI, JTEMS, ISO, CEN-CENELEC and ETSI.
At the forefront of regulatory, compliance and standardisation trends, she oversees the firm’s initiatives related to the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and is CENELEC rapporter within TC47X. Carolina is co-editor of Common Criteria and actively contributed to the transition to the CC:2022 revision.
